12 Social Media Resolutions to Get Your Venue Noticed

A new year means a fresh start. What better way for your venue to kick off 2017 than by implementing social strategies that'll help you take it to the next level?


1. Integrate Visual Content

When it comes to social media, it's all about the visuals. Did you know the human brain actually processes images a whopping 60,000 times faster than text? Strong, compelling visuals can help grab your target audiences' attention and generate more likes, comments, and shares than a text-only status update.

Consider ditching the iPhone and, instead, investing in either a professional photographer or a high-quality camera for your staff. It's worth the money, and people do notice a difference, as it will better capture aspects like your bright lights and colorful crowd.

2. Cross-Promote On Multiple Platforms

Truth be told, the majority of your patrons do not likely follow you on all of your social media platforms. If you want to really get your message across ― whether for an forthcoming performance or social event, or just to make your venue known ― it's best to not neglect any of them.

3. Promote The Experience 

With social media marketing, some venues have the tendency to only really post flyers to upcoming events. While this is a tactic that should be done, it's important to take it one step further and display the full nightlife experience your guests would receive by coming there.

Whether it's replying to a direct message, liking an Instagram comment, or retweeting a clubgoer, interacting with your social media followers is undeniably effective. Not only will your engagement numbers increase, but people will likely view your location in a more positive light because of it.

5. Be Consistent

Maintaining a consistent brand identity is key on social media. If you're going to use Snapchat to showcase behind-the-scenes content at your venue, do so regularly. If your voice is light-hearted and funny on Instagram, ensure it's the same on all platforms. If you're posting branded, custom-made content, use the same layout and colors across each of your channels.

6. Measure, Then Repeat

With built-in analytical data programs like Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, and Instagram Insights, there's really no excuse not to check them out. Take note of top posts, impressions, and engagement so that you can see what does well and what areas you should improve upon.

It might sound self-explanatory, but catering to the specific demographic of your venue is vital on social media.

Snapchat has taken over as the fastest-growing social media platform, which is crazy to think, considering it didn't even exist a few years ago. Moral of the story: recognize new platforms and sign up for them when applicable.

9. Optimize Your Time with Automation

Sites like Hootsuite and HubSpot understand that it's unrealistic to be at a computer all hours of the day, maintaining your a media presence. That's why they allow you to schedule in advance, saving you time and keeping you organized.

10. Consider Time-Appropriate Posting

They say timing is everything, and with social media, that's certainly true. After all, how will a large audience hear about your event if you're not posting it at an ideal time? 

According to HubSpot, here's when you should be sharing your venue's content:

  • Twitter: 3 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Facebook: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday; 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
  • Instagram: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday

11. Manage Online Reviews

Yelp is a great tool often times overlooked. Did you know you can actually claim your venue's page? By doing so, you'll be able to respond to reviews with a direct message or public comment; track the user views and customer leads Yelp is generating for your business; add photos and a link to your website; and update important information such as your venue's hours and phone number.

12. Use Hashtags To Gain More Reach

The #1 easiest way to get more people to see your content, increase the number likes you receive, and gain followership is to include hashtags in your posts. Make sure they're relevant, though! Case in point, if your venue is located in New York City, consider using hashtags such as #nyc, #nycnightlife, #nycparties, and #nycpromoter.
